Boat trailer winch roller

I got a new galvanized trailer for my 21 foot monterey bow rider and I absolutely love the trailer, except the winch roller.

When I try to float the boat on I have to have the trailer way out of the water otherwise the top roller will go over top of the bow and the nose of the boat will get wedged between the top and bottom roller. If I have the trailer out far enough this doesn't happen, we have to winch it way to far.

If I power load I have somewhat the same problems but it is better because I can have the trailer out of the water far enough that the bow rises so the roller setup works well.

All boat trailers I've had before this have had a single roller above the winch. I'd prefer this setup, how can I modify my current winch assembly so there's a single roller above the bow eye?

Thanks! Jeff

I can't lower the roller or it will hit the drain for my anchor locker.

See if this will work.
Replace double roller with single.
Remove winch/roller mount, flip it, and reinstall higher so the single roller is above the bow eye.
If possible, move the crank handle back to the drivers side, or move the spare to be opposite of the crank handle.
All this will likely not totally solve how far you have to back the trailer in, but it will help.

Float on, pull tow vehicle forward 2-3' so stern settles, then winch on the last 6 inches.
