Re: Boat leaning????

I was kinda hoping we could get 150+ pages out of this thread, like some of the resto threads... yanno, like what the OP had for breakfast and what color do we all think he should paint his wheel barrow and stuff like that.

Prop torque and/or whale tail. Take the tail off. Restest. If she still lists to Port underway then get used to it or buy helm adjustable tabs. This assumes she sits level at rest.

Smart Tabs will also straighten her up. The tabs don't have to be helm adjustable.

slj029 - you haven't confirmed if the boat leans ALL the time, or only when under way.
If it leans when moored, then foam is suspect - if only when moving, then it's something else.

Thank god somebody is reeling this back in ^^^^^

Yes, sorry - I probably was a little over-zealous in my post: with the possibility of a leak where the cap meets the hull, my suspicions of waterlogged foam comes up substantially (mainly from the way you describe things), but it's still just suspicion.

At rest in the water, what is that boat doing? Sittin' level or listing to port? If you've got her on the trailer and stick the nose way up, do you get water trickling or dripping out the stern for hours on end?

Don't go rippin' up decks or drillin' holes just yet.

Where's the gas tank located in that boat? Does it lean more with a full tank?

I have a similar issue with my 1992Wellcraft Eclipse196 with 4.3 ltr. I think it is due to thedeep v. If I move passengers it will correct. Thinking about smart tabs.

I'd be checking and adjusting this first.
