Boat Fungus - Yellow and weird haha

I am a new boater and I noticed a yellow fungus growing on my wooden parts of my boat that have carpeting around them. One in the live well and then another in the storage trunk of the boat. It is all on the out side of things but looks weird and I wanted to see what it is exactly and how to get rid of it.

I plan to remove all the rotting wood and recarpet it but is there something I can do for now until I do redo the carpet and remove the rotting wood?

Also, what is it and how do I prevent it in the future when I redo my boat carpets and wooden doors etc.

Some yellow mold/fungus can be quite Toxic. Be very careful when removing it. I'd suggest spraying it down with some full strength Clorox several times to kill it prior to removal. Do some Googling to research it.
