I have a 2005 Chap 256SSi with the 6.2 B3. I got everything weighed and calculated that the boat is around 5500lbs (I subtracted the weight of full tanks). The published dry weight is 4950lbs.
I'm figuring some of the weight difference is due to the engine as gear was on the boat when weighed.
If the base engine is a 5.0 or 5.7, is the weight difference with a 6.2 in the several hundred pound range?
I'm just trying to make sense of the weight difference just out of curiosity.

Ayuh,..... The 5.0l, the 5.7l, 'n the 6.2l are all SBCs, so I doubt that's the difference,.....
The B3 is considerably heavier than an Alpha drive though,....

Dry weight of a boat often does not include batteries or engine oil or coolant or fuel. This may vary with manufacturers. 5.0 has a lighter crankshaft and balancer than the 6.2 but that's not a lot different. There is probably a difference in the outdrive weight. Also, a difference in glass layup during construction can make the weight change.
