1972 winner marauder. 16' fiberglass
This was my primary boat for the last 5 or 6 years...good times.

Used circular saw, reciprocating saw, and chain saw.
(respirator and full body suit)

Cut wherever you can, take it to the free town compactor! like magic:)

Re: Boat disposal photos

If this were a pay-per-view, I know a few of our members (uh hum, Jasoutside) that would buy the full movie...

Glad you did this safely... Just curious - why did you tear her up? Looks like you had hollow core fibergless stringers (my guess is that scary looking transom).

Re: Boat disposal photos

It wasn't in the worst shape, but the transom was wet and partially rotted. Even if you fixed it up its not a good hull for my area (long island sound). Anyone who took it would have most likely been doing so with free boat fever.

There are better free boats around here in my opinion... Well there used to be when I looked a few years ago. That's how I got it actually :joyous:

Edit: forgot to say its because I got a new boat:)

A couple of comments about the "Last Ride". The winch is too low (I can't even see it) and where are the bunks?

You really got her down to a compact package. I guess if someone wanted to, they could duct tape it together again, but Humpty Dumpty comes to mind. Good job, CT. :D

Re: Boat disposal photos

I had planned to take a video, but it was sitting all summer, one morning I woke up and decided it needed to be done right now. I probably spent a few hours on it. I've done this 3 times now, once with a 22' MFG "project" I never got in to. Same deal, jammed it into tiny pieces, amazing how small they can pack up.

I'm not sure about the trailer, i wanted to make a few dollers back but the axle is badly rusted and hubs/springs don't look so good either.

I think the best choice is to keep both tires as spares and swap the fenders (if they fit my new trailer, the old fenders are better). Then sell any parts I can and scrap the rest.

I hate to scrap a perfectly good trailer frame but what can it be worth as is? Needs axle,leafsprings,hubs...Maybe $150 if I'm lucky? Then I need to buy a spare tire anyway.

What do you guys think? Actually parting it out on fleabay I might even make a few $$$ and keep my tires

ct, I'm curious to see how you deal with the trailer issue, 'cause I've been staring at an empty one in my backyard all summer that need more in parts than it's worth. I know the scrap yard option won't make us rich.

Scrap price on steel is pretty low these days, your best bet is try to sell the trailers whole. Around here people will buy any trailer in any condition as long as it's cheap. Just my opinion :)
