boat controls cables to long

Hi there anyone know how to shorten a set of control cables as mine is to long if you can help please do ty

Nope they must be replaced.

Too long??? Depending on the hull and where the controls are mounted the cables should be long enough to make a full circle loop infront of the motor when the connection is made.

hi there ty for your reply where mine connect up near the dash they go like 5feet past the motor, when i got the boat the controls where not on it i think the guy that i got it from got the wrong one's as the motor is a 40 horse johnson and the cable's are evinrude and i'm not shure where the run like in a strait line back to the motor or some other way!!!!!!ty as for the loop it would be a big one he he please help want to get it in the water as i spent all summer this year and last getting it ready with new paint ect ty

Sorry i mesured the leanth of the inside of the boat where the controls mount back to the motor and it is 8 feet to the boat motor leaving lots of slack for turning but the cable are 12 foot so thats a big loop not shure what to do outside of buying shorter cable's or find a way to shorten them any ideas ty
