Boat company name

Has anyone ever heard of the mermaid boat company? The registry plate on my bow has that stamped along with a 5 digit No. and model name, it's an aluminum boat and all I can find is one so named that only made fiberglass hulls.

Another fiberglass boat-builder with a similar name, the Mermaid Boat Company, was located at Kendallville, Indiana.

And from a google search there was a Seamaid boat company in Kendallville, I seriously doubt there were 2 boat companies operating in Kendallville at the same time, unless affiliated. I suspect your Mermaid (model or brand) was built by Seamaid or more likely its prior/sister company name, Mermaid Boat Company.

Seamaid did make a few models of aluminum boats

Yeah mine is a 77 beyond those models and my model is the Monterey 60, it might have been a small Canadian company that made only aluminum fishing boats, hence no results

being a 1977 it would have a HIN and not a serial number
with a serial number, its older than 1972

If it was Canadian made they did not require HIN's till 1982.

Either did I until I looked it up. I did remember they were later than the US but couldn't remember the year. Been retired so long now I can't even remember all the Pennsylvania regulations.

As you can see from the pic a lot of info was sanded off when they tried to clear the 3 layers of acrylic paint off
