Boat colors???

I got a jon boat last spring. It came in basic flat green. I am going to paint and was wondering if the color of the bottom matters. Do people try to paint a color that blends in with the lake. Does this really matter? Am I totally crazy to wonder about this? The boat will be almond with blue accents. I fish small lakes and just want a boat that doesn't look so drab. ;)
Thanks

You're not crazy. Do whatever you want with the boat- it's yours!
As far as color, for safety I think it should be something that's bright enough to be seen at dusk. The bottom can be the same as the topsides, but if you're leaving it in the water and worried about barnicles then a good antifouling paint should go on.
Here's my 14' Jonboat. It's almond, just like you want....

Thanks.
You have a nice boat. I have a boat on a budget. Last year was the boat(with motor that didn't run) and this year the motor has been fixed and now I want to play with changing the decks and seats. The boat lives on the trailer, so I don't have to worry about barnicles.

When you paint it, make sure you spend the time to prepare the surface correctly. If you do, the new finish will last as long as the factory paint. I used to manage an industrial paint shop and had a big sign made for the employees that said "Preparation is Everything".
Good luck.
