Anybody got any images or ideas on cutting corners on boat floor, not the lids, but the inside corners where the lids butt up? Do I cut a 45 degree angle , then cut a small triangle to fill in the gap ?

Not understandable. What is a lid?

Regardless, carpets are outdated because they hold water and eventually the boat rots. Use Marideck instead.

Sent pics so we can figure out what you need.

Yes that is what you do. However on mine, you really can't tell that little triangle is missing so I didn't bother with it

I cut the 45 short from the corner some so I could tuck it about half way down. So yea the little triangle doesn't really seem like its missing

Thanks I thought so , just didn’t know if there was some trick to hiding the corners. Thanks.

Me either.

This site is not just about answering questions for one person, its also a source of info for others.

Someone please post a pic of the floor.

Also, my boats don't have lids. Maybe i might want one. What the %^$# is it?

Jim, if your boat deck rots after you install a carpet, it is not the carpets fault. The boat deck should be rot proof, that is polyester resin and cloth over any wood.

Now if you prefer some other deck covering, that is different.

A lid ?? It’s a compartment top. Has hinges , closes.

If you can’t figure out what a (lid) is , then I’m pretty sure you can’t help.

If I didn't WANT to help I would not have replied. I have done several boat rebuilds so I do have some experience....especially with floor coverings.

What's so hard about talking a picture? Help is a 2-way street.

My boat has hatches. Google that and you will see what it is. I googled "boat lid" and apparently some some people also call hatches lids. See, even I learned something today.

So, send us some pics of your completed job so we can compliment you, and also so it will be archived for others to see in the future.

He is talking about boat hatches and lids, probably a bass boat or something. I just gathered from how he was talking about cutting the carpet that it was a carpeted hatch. All good he got it figured out
