I am trying to get insurance on a boat and motor.

1979 alumacraft 16 ft with steering
1980 35 HP evinrude

I paid about $2200 for boat, motor and trailer.

Is that about right for replacement cost?

I need a rough estimate on the motor cost alone and the boat cost alone.

Regards,

Derrick

You can make the value anything you want... I believe you will be paying for whatever the replacement cost ends up being on paper...

Hi Derrick, If you have home owners or renters insurance, the best deal for you would be a rider on that policy. Some companies even include boats in that price range in the original policy at no charge. My ins company charges $44 for a boat like that.

If you don't have a renters policy, now might be a good time to get one. Kill two birds with one stone. Probably around $125 a year.

If you have to buy a separate boat policy, it may cost you more than it is worth.

Your replacement cost is going to depend on your location, as market prices vary. Around here (WI) I would say $900 for the boat, $900 on the motor, and $400 on the trailer.

Happy Boating.

Check ebay, iboats, and other dealers used stock online for comparisons and make sure you insure your setup so you could replace it if something happened.

Location and season are the major factors in pricing and how quickly boats/motors will sell.

Here in Florida I would guess at $600.00 for the motor if in perfect condition, $500.00 for the boat & $400.00 for the trailer if perfect.

Florida prices are usually lower than most other places. Got a lot of boats here.
