Re: Bluegill dropped below deck

when I was 8yrs old a buddy and myself went fishing in the stream up in the woods and caught 10 shiners (we used to call them chubs). By the time we got home with all of them dangling from our fish chain thing we were bored and wanted to do something else. We dropped the 10 fish in the yard and grabbed our bikes for a ride. We forgot about the fish for weeks. One day we were walking around the yard and smelled something nasty. Oh my!!! It's the Chubs! All the bodies were gone except the fish heads were still intact on the chain. My friend (who was bigger than me) grabbed the chain and swung it over his head twirling it around chasing me around the neighborhood. It was as scary as being chased by leatherface! Anyway, point is that the body may disappear but the fish head will remain and stink long time! I do agree with the above mentioned point that at least it's not under the couch.
Sorry about the lengthy story...but it was traumatizing!

haha... funny. Sucks that you just did the floor and everything too.

Try flooding the floor then drain, then repeat. Should get down there eventually I would think.

Re: Bluegill dropped below deck

I'm sorry to say that my fishing buddy dropped a 3" blue gill and it flopped it's way under the deck of my boat. The deck is permanently attached and is not going to be removed.

It is not easily retrievable...and yes we have tried a coathanger.:D

So I'm curious...who has had this SHT happen before and how long until it dries out and stops smelling?:D

I had a live eel get loose in my 1973 Chevy 1 ton dump truck once...I didn't have to worry about the stereo getting swiped for quite a few months.... :D I never found the eel ...

Since we are at it. I left a can full of worms in my dad car back when i was about 9 years old. Dad looked all over the place trying to find the smell until he happened to open the container... He almost puked... Another time he had a string of crabs and a few of the crabs got loose in his car. He could nto retrieve all of them until the smell came and he could find them a few days later... Same car as the worms, it was a 1980's Monte Carlo.

I never had that happen to me, But I did have a chipmunk get into the intake of my heater core one witer. I didn't notice it till spring being that it was on the cold air intake side and didn't thaw till spring.:eek::eek:

I never could get the smell out. I wound up selling the truck for a lot less than it was worth to friend( he felt sorry for me because no one else would buy the truck) he bought it for his kids to drive.
