Started a project of repairing a boat that's been abused the past 10years.

I had the boat out about 2 weeks ago. It ran, a little rough, but it ran. Noticed lots of rot in the transom and floors. The paint desperately needs to be replaced. It was used at one time as a tender boat for sea duck hunting.

Started by tearing it down to the hull. As I did this I saw how bad it was and was glad I started the project.

I'm starting this forum to keep track of it myself as well as for input. Dont have much boat experience and no experience in repairing a boat.

Also not looking to restore to a condition where I'd sell it. I just want a safe boat to fish from and be comfortable in.

Since everything is out now is a good time to check the rivets and make sure there is nothing leaking. If there is now is a good time to rebuck them. I know a few people that use glove it to fix or just as precaution. Although I have never used it on my aluminum (its in good condition, my rebuild is a fiberglass)

Gluv-it or Coat-It are options for rivet/seam sealer

:welcome: aboard Joe,

I don't get out of the Starcraft tin head section much but your Bluefin looks pretty standard to what we see over there. A wrecked interior needing a full gut job is standard fare. New transom and decking with no pressure treated plywood. Lots of ideas in the SC section too as well as a rivet tutorial.

Nothing to tag on to. Joe took a closer look and threw his hands up. He never came back.
