Hello everyone. 1999 Volvo Penta 4.3 GL engine. Was charging my battery this evening before I start troubleshooting a slow crank issue. I switched batteries this afternoon before charging (a known good battery). I get home this evening and attempt to crank it a few times. After doing that twice( it did turn over) the 50 amp breaker on the left side of the fuse block tripped (no power to anything). It will not push back in and reset but i wiggled the negative battery cable (it was loose) and everything came back on. Obviously a loose connection at the battery. Could that have caused the 50 amp to blow. And if it is tripped (unable to reset it by pushing it back in). Why did everything come back on when I wiggled the battery cable? Thanks im advance for any help you can provide.

The breaker did reset, otherwise no power would have been available.
Could be the breaker didn't need to reset because the loose connection was the issue

You gentleman are 100% correct. My negative battery cable had corrosion on the lug, was not crimped onto the cable fully and would not seat on the battery post correctly. I have cleaned and tightened all connections on the battery and have no issues right now. Will do the same with the starter this afternoon as well as test voltage at the starter etc. Fingers crossed for an easy fix as the starter is an absolute bear to get to lol

Don't forget to also clean the negative cable connection to the block, assuming you can get to it.
