Ok, I pulled the starter and the engine id numbers are slightly different. Old engine (D4DE-6015-AA) New block D4DE-6015-BA) New engine wont align and front has to be 1 1/2 inch lower to be in the ball park for coupler/shaft alignment. Does anybody know what the AA and BA difference might be. Ford doesnt know.

tootoot,........

I don't mess with Ford motors,... So I really can't Help,........
But,......
I'm Betting that the Block is Fine,+ SomeThing is wrong SomeWhere Else,...........

If Everything has bolted together,+ All the bolt holes have been where their Supposed to be,.. So Far,........

I Really Doubt that the Blocks are Different,........

How about the Motor Mounts,.??? Are they the Same,.???
Do they measure the Same from the bottom of the Block at the Oil Pan Rail,.???

Re: blocks different?

Blocks should be the same, forget the washer/spacer idea. Id reinspect the rear mounts in the flywheel housing cover. The fromt mounts should not have to be lowered that much changing a block.if the wrong bushing in there the rear sits too low.If there not seated fully against the spacer ring ,block sits too high.

Ok. I'm at the point that nothing I do with the motor in the boat is working like its suppose to. Guess Ill pull the motor and reinspect everything. Something Im missing. The measurements made with the motor in the boat appear to be the same blocks. 302 is a 302 right? might even put the old one back in for %$##@s and giggles. Thanks guys, Ill let you know.Surely its something simple. Re: blocks different?

Ya. Its been rebuilt and stronger than the original for more hp later possibly. The old motor was in after the rebuild and no problem. Front motor height was normal. I thought it was the rear mounts also but the fact that the extra spline shaft goes in all but 1/2 inch verifies the height of the rear of the coupler matches the gimbal bearing. This things drivin me nuts. Doesnt make sense. Im pulling the motor and reinspecting everything. Dont think ill find the problem though. Maybe the engine code BA means bass ackwards. Actually I figured the codes out and the AA and BA are revision codes but cant find out what kind of revisions. I am in agreement that the blocks are not the problem. Gonna measure to be sure. Then shoot it.
