blocking diode

Can anyone please tell me where the blocking diode is on the tan alarrm wire for a 1985 70 3cyl. evinrude and if its still available. Thanks

Most of the time the blocking diode is positioned a few inches up from the large red connector on the engine harness. You have to unwrap the tape and look for it.

I don't think your motor has one.
It was in motors with quick start/slow
and for shift switch.
I think that quick start became available in 1989?

He very well may have it, my 84 75hp Evinrude is equipped with it.

Thanks for the replies. I stripped the cover for the wiring and I didn't find a diode and all the splices look like factory. Where was yours located sixmark.

Blocking diodes came out in 1988 with QS and SLOW. They kept false signals away from the pack.
