I just received a used power trim unit for an 87 Mercury 115 hp/I6 that I bought used on Ebay. My old unit was very corroded and not worth repairing. The used unit I received is in great shape with no corrosion (fresh water makes all the difference). However, when I bench tested it, I did not realize my battery was virtually dead and I tried backing off on the manual release screw to get the unit to raise/lower. I backed off on it too much and some fluid came out. Would this have introduced air into the system? If so, how do I bleed the system. Once I charged the battery, the main piston raises and lowers fine but the trim pistons are now stuck in the up position.
