Black Max Questions...

I just bought a used boat with a Mercury Black Max XR2 outboard. I was wondering what the pro's or con's are for this motor. Also It does not have any horsepower stickers on it anywhere. I've been told that it is a 150 but not shure. what (if any) difference is there between this motor and a regular 150? I'm completely new to outboards and know very little about them. I believe it is a '87 model. Thanks for any help.

They are all the same. Take the sieral number and go to Mercury Express.com and you should be able to find out. It is probably a 2.4 L block w/carbs, I presume. Good engines if taken care of.
