Re: Black Friday - Good Grief

1 year I was at a Khol's in line at 4:30am. Yeah, I actually went there and did that. I think I was the only guy there and was 4th or 5th in line, but only sat in the cold for about 30 minutes before the store opened. Got my wife a Kitchen Aide Mixer for $75 under retail. She wanted one for Christmas, so it was either get it then or later. The food she makes with that thing has been more than worth it. I haven't gone out since and hopefully never will. There's not much besides fishing that will get me up at 4am, but $75 + baked goods for life is one of them. Christmas morning she was making these....

I guess on this day, you're not supposed to care about people. There was a lady and her two kids wrapped in blankets in front of me and I held the door open for them. Some lady bolled passed me and almost knocked one of the little girl's over into the glass doors to get in. Then she looked at me like I was the jerk.

Ha ha, didn't think about it that way, but I'm 33 years old, 6 foot 3, and weigh 175 pounds. I'm not too worried about calories. If only I could get her to blend up steak in that thing, maybe I could put some weight on :)

One of the only things I don't like about living in California. No Cabela's.

I think the Black friday thing is getting out of hand here- N.C.; Shots fired outside a crowded Target I think, early A.M. as it opened in Fayettville causing a stampede that injured 9 or 12 shoppers. Customer peppersprayed a crowd inside a Walmart in Kinston!!. Were's the holiday, peace and goodwill people? Good Grief indeed!! Update, I was misinformed by the media this am, go figure, it seems now that the Kinston incident happened when a crowd "jostled" for position in line at electronics and knocked over a display and shoppers fell also, causing a police officer to spray the crowd he thought was fighting!!

Re: Black Friday - Good Grief

that stuff happened here too. I was watching the news this morning and the tape along the bottom read:

...shopper shot in black friday line at San Leandro Wal-Mart...10 people sprayed with pepper spray at LA Walmart in the black friday line...Black Friday Deals announced every hour...

might as well have said, "It's dangerous...get down there!!"

Another story was on two guys that bought something and went to their car, where another car blocked them in their spot and demanded the item. Then shot one of the shoppers. Two guys took off in the car and another ran. Well, the guy who got shot and his shopper buddy chased that guy down and caught him, called the police, and held him until the police got there. Now they are looking for the two other guys. What's with people these days...

The bad thing about Black Friday has been the 20+ knot winds with 8+ ft seas. I couldn't go diving today! :(

I leave black friday for the idiots. I put a value on my time and nerves....if I have to go shoulder to shoulder and wait for hours it ain't no bargain. Stores are are only doing this to reduce their fiscal inventory, what they didn't sell today will probably go on sale again before the end of the year.

Re: Black Friday - Good Grief

After taking care of the lawn work at my church this morning ( my week for that),I came home and ate left over turkey and dressing, and then about 1 PM hooked up the boat, headed to the boat ramp close to the mouth of the Brazos River, ran to the mouth and squeezed into a spot on the west shore. Finally caught a few finger mullet for bait, caught 2 small reds, 1 speck( trout), and finally picked up the 2 flounder we are allowed in November. Back home by 4:30 and cleaned everything up before it got dark. Getting ready for more left overs.

What is all this stuff about black Friday:D.
It was a good day with the sun out from time to time and in the 70's here.
I love Texas

........Breaking News......... Occupy Raleigh protesters arrested for protesting BF in foodcourt at popular local mall!! they were allowed to protest all day outside the doors, but that evedently was'nt very effective. I guess the felt ignored by all the shoppers entering the mall regardless of their chants and signs, so they made a sneak attack at the foodcourt inside....... no word if pepperspray was used to subdue them.......Dangit.:p:D
