I get black footprints when stepping onto the back deck and cushion when using the rubber steps on the trailer to enter my Q6. Especially when wet. Is there anything I can put on the step rubber to prevent this?

I had the same problem - washed them - really scrubbed with a tire brush and tire cleaner... no more problems.

JRampey, you were correct. I used a wheel cleaner I had in the garage with a brush on all rubber steps before I went to the lake yesterday. No more black footprints on my cushions when I climbed aboard off the trailer. I`ll make that part of my normal boat cleaning routine.:D Thanks!

I also had this annoying problem. I was using tire cleaner to remove the disintegrating rubber from the trailer step pads. I would have to do this 2 or 3 times each year because my Q6 is stored outdoors and the sun just bakes the rubber.
I found some excellent material from SeaDek to replace the rubber pads:

http://www.seadekstore.com/sheets-small-18inx38in-5mm.aspx

I got the 18? x 38" in sheet. There was enough material to replace all 6 step pads and put a strip of material along the top length of the fenders (where everyone steps anyway). Just follow the installation directions to prepare the surface. The old pads came off easily in one piece. I cut the new pieces with a box cutter and straight edge. The peel-off backing on the new material was very easy to work with.

The company was great on the phone. I originally ordered ?Bimini Blue? because the ?Midnight Black? was not available in the dropdown list. After receiving the blue, I decided I needed black. I called SeaDek and they explained they don?t recommend black because it may shrink 1/8 inch. I said that didn?t matter in this case. So they shipped the black and allowed the blue return. Very nice service.
