Bilge sump question

I have a 1997 wellcraft 190ccf center console. It has a sump area where the bilge pump lives. It's sealed with epoxy substance but I noticed water enters from the left side of the sump depression. Looks like its by design unless someone says otherwise. Not sure if that's intentional or if i should close off that area with some 4200 fast cure? Thanks

Doesn't look like the depressed area was done at the factory . Pretty shoddy workmanship . I would think the sump area cut out would of been finished, gel coated like the rest of the sump area . Looks like someone used a hole saw ,overlapped it and cut the top of the finished gel coat / " floor " out . Have you tried to contact Wellcraft?

That looks like a bad repair. You would have to pull the boat out and inspect the outside of the hull. Then fix it properly.

Boat is on trailer. No evidence of anything on the bottom of the hull.

Haven't tried wellcraft. I guess I'll reach out to them

One possibility is the top half of the hull , ( the part above the rubrail ) has water intrusion. The source could be the rubrail , or any part that is bolted or screwed into the upper part of the hull and is not sealed correctly. That water will find its way to the inner hull . Previous owner discovered it and cut the sump area out so that water would end up there ,instead of being sandwiched between the inner and outer hull . Might now have saturated flotation, if Wellcraft used that method for the build . Something to look into for sure .

Well then it's not a funky repair. You will have to find where it's coming in. Once I worked on one that I couldn't find the leak, But a different setup than that. The forward area was sealed to the cuddy cabin, but the cuddy would get water in it. Food coloring in the area behind the cuddy, and it would seep into the cuddy. Found a bad layup of glass between the two. A simple fix on that one. Yours is a bit different.

With water coming in.....what does it look like down under ?? Any wood under their ?? You might get a snake camera and go down under for a look see.....
