Just a quick question, is the bilge pump supposed to be 2 parts, one has the hose going into it and the other is a white box? the boat is a 2006 Larson senza 186. Also are they supposed to be floating around or attached to the hull?

Thank-you

Well, one of mine is two parts but don't know about all-
It should be attached to keep it low to pump all the water possible.

Welcome to iboats!

The bilge pumps with which I'm familiar are composed of two pieces like you describe. Of course, they need to be attached to each other for the pump to work. The base needs to be secured in the bilge.

I cannot speak for your specific installation, but there are two types. One uses an external float switch and has two parts. The other is a single piece and has an internal switch, In either case it would make more sense to have it tied down on the bottom some how. On the other hand, I have had two boats with bilge pumps, and both were unsecured when I bought them.
