It would have steel in it , not aluminum , same as the real stuff that is sold on this site. Do not know if it is impervious to bilge buildup as in oil residue or if your insurance carrier would accept that product if something happened . Sometimes 3" is not 3" especially in the boating world , so would the vent hose fit correctly . Exhaust Manifold hose listed at 3" from NAPA [ ex. ] will not fit , but the marine 3' does at 15.00 more per foot. Just buy the right stuff.

Thanks for the reply! So, it does fit, I can clear that up because I already installed it. I just started poking around here on the forum and found a thread where a lot of people said not to use aluminum dryer vents in the bilge because they can conduct electricity and I was wondering if I made a mistake, if this is the same. If so, no big deal, I can just take it out and replace with the appropriate material.

Why do you say it would have steel instead of aluminum? I am pretty sure it has aluminum. If you click the product and view it on Amazon it has the word "aluminum" in the product description, but it's not bare aluminum like some dryer vents, it's covered in PVC.

Usually if your not sure, you ask about the product before buying it.
Aluminum does not conduct electricity , it does not have enough tensile strength to be used in this situation. Think of the diameter of the steel that's in there and if that was aluminum it would just bend and never return to form , unlike the steel. I think the description might mean that it is designed to attach to aluminum vents , I could be wrong in this day and age of marketing.

Oh very nice, I did not know that aluminum does not conduct electricity. I thought it did. That is good to know. What I found in a Google search seemed to indicate that aluminum does conduct electricity while not as well as say copper, for example, it said it does conduct...but maybe it conducts so poorly that you might as well say it does not conduct? I don't know. One thing I do know is when I use to have metal fillings in my teeth if I bit down on aluminum foil I sure felt it as a kid and I thought that was because it was conducting electricity, is it not?

not only does aluminum conduct electricity, it also corrodes quickly
