Just a heads up. I found all of the bearings for a friend's Merc V-6 lower unit at Bearing Headquarters for around $40.00. This included all of the needle, ball and tapered roller bearings found in this unit. Dealers were 4-5x higher. I believe they are nation wide, if not contact them in St.Louis MO. Good luck

Re: beware of dealer bearing prices!!!

Thanks Bmurray. We have Fort Myers Bearing locally, and I've found many of the bearings and seals there at at least half of the bagged prices. I just take the old ones down to them, and they match them up.
But it's nice to know there is a chain-store for these.
This site is the best, and these tips make it that way. This is a post for the archives.

I just took them out and called the store. The three brands I found in the unit were Peer, Torrington and Timken. They are about as common as you will find. The St.Lois phone number is 314-432-0700. They can tell you if there is local store in your area. I'm sure most bearing shops will have or can get them much cheaper than the dealer can. Good luck

oh yea, love this forum!!!!!
