Better seats and pedestals

I have an '89 Crestliner set up for fishing. The seats in it are old, and falling apart. The driver pedestal is fine, but the bow and stern fishing pedestals are wobbly. Bottom line is that my back ain't what it used to be, and a day of fishing results in some problems. Do you fine folks have any suggestions for fishing seats and pedestals that would be more comfortable for an old guy with a touch lower back?
BTW, I'm not a real big guy. 5'10' 175 lbs so I don't need any of the gear designed for big men.

capndan, I used the typical pole pedestal seat setup in my Bass Boat and it had great back comfort. I see a lot go with no backing on their seats to fish. But I like to lay back some times and I have never been disappoint with the pole type pedestal setup. And some of them are adjustable for heights as well.

The the real key to comfort is how the base is attached and supported. If the base flexes, that translates to a lot of change at the seat. So what ever you chose make certain the base is very secure with zero flex. And you can also install a little setback angle to offer even more comfort. And another nice thing I like about such seat setups is the fact that you can remove the pole and install the seats right on the base. That works great for trailering. And if you are taking a kid along with you, you can make short pole heights to fit the kids as well. Just my opinion.

Like any seat, boat, car, truck, aircraft lumbar support for the lower back is key. I don't see many fisherman sit back in their seats while fishing only when under power. The pole type Bass seats have zero lumbar support, don't use them. I replace the pole type Butt seat up front with one of my seats with a back for still fishing, trolling or drifting. If you are the Capt. most likely you are in the drivers seat, I find I'm leaning forward to much thus not enough back support. I too have a bad lower back. Watch your posture, it may not be your seat but the way you sit. My seats in the StarCraft are fantastic, nicer support and comfort than the seats for support than my wifes Nissan. And a wobbly seat in a boat can be unsafe, get them fixed. Being an 89' you may have a problem with the floor, I hope not.

Both can be secured to a floor section and have zero flex. And then you use posts like these;

And then you can select whatever type seat you like. And they even make angled wedges to setback the angle of the seat for angled back ot angled forward. JMHO

^ yes, yes. My drivers seat is adjustable too, same as the bow pole type butt seat. Love them. In general I love my boat second only to the lady who's name appears on the registration. Truck too come to think of it, I better be a good boy or no soup for me, 2 year.

A 238 series base and pedestal are hard to beat for solidity.
Seats? Everyone has a favorite.

I personally can't stand the Centric seats, others swear by them.

Put Garelick seats with arm rests in my boat a few years back.
Just having the arm rests seams to take a lot of pressure off your back from trying to stay balanced on the seat.

They've been making these same seats for over 40 years, had some that came in my old '74 Starcraft.
