Better carb for a 1989 2.3l Cobra?

I'm running with the stock carb (Rochester 2GC) on this 2.3l pushing a 20' cuddy cabin. The engine isn't gonna put out the power to make the boat leap out of the water, but I'm curious if anyone has experience with carb modifications or swap for a different carb to eke out a bit more HP?

That's a small motor for that size hull. You really can't gain much more power, just not enough displacement. There was a guy on here awhile ago that was able to pick up a few more hp from the 2.3, he did something with the head. Search for 2.3 head and you should find it.

Agreed. The motor is an air pump. The 2.3 only sucks so much air and can only expel so much air. The 2GC supplies more than enough.

Thank God cuz my 4.3 has the same carb

They only used that motor for a few years.
Then stopped production.
The parts are getting harder and harder to find.
To increase performance: unload the boat, carry only the bare minimum.
Don't run with a full tank.
What are the rpm's at wot?
Maybe a small pitch change on the prop?
This guy did a rebuild.Maybe check with him on what he finnaly did?
