Best way to remove paint from this metal ID plate??

I want to fix up my 1969 Glastron V-145's identification plate without ruining it. This thin metal plate has the model and serial number stamped into it and is covered with paint.

The metal is very maleable and thin. I am afraid that I may etch or ruin it completely if I soaked it in Acetone or some kind of paint thinner.

Any suggestions on what I can do to bring back the metal surface??

you may be best to leave it alone, at least it is readable.

It looks as though the markings are raised and stamped. There is a paint remover that comes in a spray can. Simple spray on, wait and wipe off. It works pretty good. I found it at HD.

If you dont care to lose the original paint on plate paint remover or spray carb cleaner works well.

two pretty gentle methods would be 1) hot water and TSP 2) Poly Clens which is a hardened -brush cleaner. it should soften the paint which would then come off in strips.
