Best way to mount a 20” Evinrude 110 on a 25” transom?

I actually like the idea of physically making my mark with a straight edge, So there’s no guess work.. the straight edge was what I was always taught… although the engine being setback 6” the 1/2” below the top of straight edge could be wrong?

Motors that are set back from the transom can be raised for better performance. I would get a manually adjustable Jackplate and mount it as though you had a 20" transom. Now you can start raising the motor up on the jackplate until you like the efficiency, speed and handling.

I gave you the numbers I did for the reasons stated and iterating that was for each 6" of setback...aka adding a jack plate or having your bottom (pad) stop 6" from the transom (like is done on popular bass boats), the AV plate moves up 1" from where it would have been if mounted on the transom, and in your case factoring in the fact that you want to compensate for 5" of excess transom height in the process. Also if I were doing the job I would ensure that I had working room at both extremes of the jack plate adjustable range and my numbers should support that.

The setback of the jack plate should give you adequate room to route your control cables up over the top of the transom and hopefully, they are long enough to accommodate the extra 6" of length.

Bay manufacturing wanted $750 for an extension kit. I’m sure plus tax and shipping, probably right around $900 when the smoke clears. That’s Just over the top expensive. For an old outboard extension kit……

Your motor might be old but a new kit is a new kit.-------Just like shop labor.-----You have an old motor but shop time to repair it is all " brand new "-----One reason some shops do not deal with old motors and their owners !

A new Jackplate is closer to $200. Maybe you can find a used one for less.

Jackplate will prohibit the motor from being tilted out of water when Not in use. I'm scarpping the project. I went out and bought this Boston Whaler Revenge with a 200hp for $3k instead of buying a 5" extension for $1k
