I want to get one paint gun that will do just about everything. I need to be able to paint my boats and cars, but also need to stain the deck and paint the house. Can one gun do it all. Should you get one good gun for automotives and a cheap one for everything else (stain and latex)? What type and what brands are the best values?

I got a set of 3 HVLP guns for $100 from HF I think. I have not used it for the deck yet but the auto type paints it was fine. Keep them clean though.

Re: Best Value Type of Paint Gun

Hi Jim,

Fellow Montana person here, I have a couple of different HVLP guns I picked up at Harbor Freight that work just great for anything I ever want to paint, I have used them with auto paint, house paint, wood stains and have no reason to believe they won't work, when I get ready to paint my new(old) boat.

But the previous poster is 100% correct, they have to be kept clean, this is the first thing you do after your done spraying, with the appropriate cleaning supplies, even if you end up with a flaw in the item your painting, make sure you clean the gun before you worry about the flaw, that way they will last.

The closest HF to Helena is in Missoula at
