jtexas, I talked to a man at the boat ramp who regularly pulls his bass boat with a v-6 Explorer. He says you don't even know it's back there. He has 170k miles on it with no problems. Sounds like you got a good deal. Hope you have many good miles with it.

Buying one of those few and far between SUV's that are odd ducks... no 4x4 and /or 2 door is a good way to get a pretty good deal on a sound truck. I looked at tons of trucks (extended cabs) and SUV's and found what I think is a "good "thing for buyers is a Dodge Durango. The resale is TERRIBLE, in the 2000-2001 year range , atleast in my ohio area. Makes for a great truck with lotsa goodies for a little cash. I spent two months researching this I got a 2001 SLT Plus (sticker in glove box 36,000 ) with 65,000 mile for 13,300 4.7 V8 <br /><br />I think research in your area can really pay off

They were selling Brand new Chevy work trucks a few months ago for 12,000. Now we are talkin stripped down V6 with nothing fancy, but also 0 miles. So it stands to reason if you could find one about 1 year old the price and miles would be right.

I sell cars for a living, no matter what you buy spend $30-50 and have it checked out before you buy it. thats better than puting a new motor in next week.<br />with the small amount you will be pulling just about any truck will do. I've had dodge.ford and chevys. Fords are a little cheeper (because there are more on the road) but the best I have ever had in small trucks is chevy s10 4.3 v6 have 212000 miles on mine and would take her anywhere. also have a ranger 3.0 v6 but the s10 rides and handles better.. good luck
