In my searches to find a outboard to put on my "Stump jumper" I have found one that has a 1999 12' grumman w/ shorelander trailer attached to it. It is at a really reasonable price. I am thinking about getting it and selling the boat + trailer and keeping the motor. My question is what is the best time of year to sell one of these, most likely on ebay as I could probably sell for more on there. I am fairly sure the best time is late spring but would like some input. Oh, what would be a good price to sell it w/o motor?

BTW, it is not a jonboat but a semivee.

I am in GA. About 40 miles north of Atlanta. I want as much as I can for it. I figure ebay would be the best place to get the most $ for it.
How much do you think it is worth. It is a 1999 12' Grumman semivee w/ the solid seats going across. It is on a Shorelander jonboat trailer that is in good condition. May add a pic in a minute or two.

Looking at as many boats as I have been in the past few weeks, I would guess ebay should bring about 600 to 800 for that combo. Lets see a pic if we can. Thanks, Dave

Jonboats have the unique advantage of being in demand at pretty much any time of the year that ice isn't covering the waterways. Fishermen like them all year and hunters like them in the fall.

Correction on the year. It is a 1997 not '99. Would keep motor and sell boat + trailer. Guess the asking price.

Re: Best time of year to sell jonboat UPDATE!! Plan Change!

Re: Best time of year to sell jonboat UPDATE!! Plan Change!

The original plan was to keep evinrude for my other boat and sell this one. Well, dad was gonna give me the engine for christmas. Well when he went to pick it up he saw what the pics didn't show. The trailer has the capacity for a 16+ foot boat. The boat also comes with a bimini top, bilge pump, swivel seats, motor lock, and wiring for all sorts of items, including universal quick plug ins. All for 500 bucks!!
Now we ditched the original plan. We are gonna keep this one and resale the other one. We are also gonna sell the trailer off this one and either build a more suitible trailer or just throw it in the truck.

That is a nice looking boat but it is not a jon boat. Jons are flat bottomed and square nosed. For $500 you got a real good deal.

I know. But at the time I started the post we had not had pics. The guy had just told us it was a jonboat.

Sweet deal and you are on the right track with your boat/motor plans. Best time of year to sell anything is when folks have money to buy...right around tax refund time and again after Labor Day, when bonuses at work are paid for 1-3rd quarters. That's my rule of thumb. Second best is when folks are iced in and sitting around the computer escaping the Holiday clatter by trolling the auction sites. Out here in TX that rig would go for $400 to $700 depending on condition of boat/trailer and whether you have a clear title in hand...biggest stump to overcome when licensing used watercraft in the Lone Star State.
