Re: Best Lure

If I had to choose only one "Lure" It would be a jointed rappalla. Now if it were only one soft plastic it would be a senko.

I really like Rapalas, but do better with Bagley Killer Bees or spinnerbaits.

Most all of the larger bass I have hooked into were on "plastic" rubber worms...

Tight Lines!

I have a whole tackle shop in my boat, but I think Flahthead and I would get along just fine. I however prefere the X-Rap.

My one-lure would have to be the rattletrap.

Having actually thought about it some more, (We can change our minds), Right!

I think that the # 1 Bass lure of all time has to be the Spinnerbait, Im surprised that SBN hasnt chimed in on this one allready. You can fish them at any speed, at any depth. The most versatile bait bar none.

So, why dont I fish them more often?

Re: Best Lure

Hmmmm. To me a lure is something that goes "clunk" when you drop it, and has one or more hooks that come on it.

Those wonderful plastics don't meet that test. Therefore I class them as baits. Good stuff, mind you, but bait, not lure. :)

Re: Best Lure

"Plastic" worm by far the best for me. Purple favorite and most productive color.

that's interesting...TPWD says bait is anything used to lure a fish...I usually use bait to mean something that is or recently was alive. Or stinkbait. stuff like that. To distinguish it from artificial bait. Which would be lures.

Re: Best Lure

I USED to catch lots of nice bass on the black, orange-dotted Flatfish. In those days, unless restricted by state law, the Flatfish sported four small trebles, paired on little wire outriggers. I have not seen this design in many years. Can anyone tell me why? With two standard trebles, they just aren't the same at all, even if you fuss with the balance.

------------------
Take your wife fishing; she'll love it, too, and then you won't have to hear about it anymore. Hope you married your best friend.

Re: Best Lure

H&H single spin spinner bait, In black and yellow to be exact. Deadly in the tanks and small lakes around here.
