Best lift tool fixture for lowering 1979 and later v4 crossflows

I am preparing for the possibility of needing to store my v4 crossflow outboard horizontally on a pallet instead of a wooden stand and it does not have the lift ring since the regulator/rectifier is present.

I have the OEM combo tool for lifting vertically that also pulls flywheel and can pull carrier bearing which works fine vertically. I've replaced tilt tube bushings on a different outboard of the same model type so lifting it in general isn't my issue.

I am however slightly wary of using it to lower the outboard slowly horizontally to the ground based on those long OEM tool bolts and that lift ring gets loose when you position the outboard.

Is Evinrude lift fixture part# 398067 a better choice in this situation, is there a different fixture part number that should be used, or do I just need to snug up the lift eye a small bit more and not worry so much?

Maybe a rope around the shaft under the powerhead. When lowering, you should be able to steer the lower unit to a horizontal position. If a chain is used, protect the shaft with towels, or a moving blanket.

Don't know how much it weighs, a 4 part purchase would probably be sufficient since it doesn't have to carry the entire weight. If the pallet is strong I suppose you could stand it up against the motor and ease them down together..
