Just started looking for a bass boat in the 20 foot range, would appreciate everyone's opinion on the best and why. I want a boat that handles rough water well,(do not like to get soaked). Some of the one's I've looked at are Ranger, Skeeter, Trition, Progator etc. I like the Trition but have heard they do not handle rough water as well as a Skeeter. Any help is appreciated

Take a look at Skeeter, Champion and Ranger. They all do well in rough water esp. Champion.

I've never heard of Allison, looks like a good boat and the price is lower than a lot of the big names. But their web site could use some work, there is no way to get a catalog or email for additional information. Who has the best price on these boats?

I always considered the Allisons a real go fast, bat outta $%^& type rig.

The workmanship of the Triton is "par excellence". The Triton is the Cobalt of bass boats. You'll pay for it, but the resale is great as long as you don't go "weird" with the color combo.

I like Rangers, champion (for real rough water) and Allison for speed. I believe the Allison holds the speed record for bass boats. I can't give faults with any of them. Consider the purpose that you want it for. Imagine fighting that fish and having to walk around on the deck. I am partial to single consoles and very little space to fall into when fighting a fish. I know there are other bass fisherman who will tell you that falling while fighting a fish is not any fun nor is having to navigate your body around consoles. Best of luck in your search, try to test drive a few. Go to a tournement weigh in and ask the people who fish what their preferance is. Have fun.

Bob

I bought a Progator. It handles the roughes water and can ask for more. You would have to set the boat up to you, meaning the way you drive that is. If you want a soildly built boat with just as much floation foam built in as a Ranger with not as much weight you can count on the Progator. My 18 footer has a XR6 Mercury 150 and will go in the neighborhood of 64MPH. I fish in the Spillway of Louisiana where speed is only useful in the open canals. If you do try and fly through one of the canals with stumps hidden below the surface you can rest assure knowing if you do hit one and bust the hull it is covered by a 10 year warranty and the transom for the lifetime of the boat against failure.
I love mine and would think you would love one too. :D

Ok, I'm a little surprised nobody has mentioned Bass Cat? Though I have no clue how wet they are in the rough stuff.

Kelly Cook

By far the absolute finest bass boats for "rough water" are Storm... You'll see many of the "locals" who fish on Lake Okeechobee running a Storm... Okeechobee can get flat out nasty in just a few minutes (I've seen 5-6 foot, close together, choppy waves kick up from dead calm in a matter of 15-20 minutes)...
http://www.stormboats.com/

Muskyone, I have to agree with you. I have a 20' Javelin, which is almost the exact same hull as Stratos boats. I fish Erie and St Clair and i'm constantly running in 3-5 ft waves.

I've been on Champion, Skeeters, and Ranger boats and none of them have the wide 96inch beam that the Javelin has. Besides that it's $5-10,000 cheeper.
