gunshot grouper,<br /><br />I checked on the ratings for the 2004 Grand Cherokee (you did not give a year), with the 4L 6cyl. ( http://www.trailerlife.com/downloads/04towingguide.pdf )<br /><br />They rate it for 5,000 pounds with the factory towing package, and only 2,000 pounds without. Have you done any aftermarket mods? (transmission cooler, etc)<br /><br />It might pull ok, but you are over the factory ratings. I would be concerned with wear the and tear you are putting on the vehicle. I would be uncomfortable towing what you have with that vehicle.

Is there a naturally aspirated, mass produced, gasoline powered 6 cylinder with more HP than the GM 4.2L I6 found in their mid size SUVs? I have towed with both the Trailblazer and the Envoy and both do a great job if you disregard the RPM. The torque curve is better than most V8s and the engine is inherently smooth. I have towed in the max range 6-7k lbs and am pretty satisfied with the performance.<br /><br />The engine has won some awards over the last several years:<br /> Great Vehicles Need Great Engines <br /><br />A quote from TB Mag:<br />

The toureg is actually a V10 with 310hp and ~500 lb ft of tourque. It goes for about 55K according to Go Boating's recent article. Im a vw fanatic and that is one sweet SUV none the less

I use my 98 JEEP Wrangler. Tows like a champ.

Trail blazer is the way to go. I have a v 8 durango that does a nice job, used a freinds trailblazer last summer for a week, and could'nt believe how well the 6 towed my boat ( more power than the durango, ride wasn't as nice)<br /><br /> Jim
