Hi,i live in Australia and i have picked up an old Bertram 18 in fairly good nick, after a transom rebuild and stern floor replacement.Stringers turned out to be really solid luckily. The only thing is i cant find out any info on the boat.Plenty of info about Bertram 20s and up.I was hoping someone might know a little about them considering they were made in the US.Any information would be very appreciated. Thanks

Nice Bert! Man I love their lines. To be honest, I had no idea Bert ever made them so small. Do you know what year it is?

I'd start by making contact with Bertram www.bertram.com There is an owner's club there, and you might find some info there.

Thanks mate.Great looking boat and the ride would have to be one of the best ive been in.Better ride than alot of bigger boats. Its hard to believe some times your in an 18 footer.Would not have a clue of the year, maybe late 70s or early 80s.Someone must know something about the Bertram 18.

As for the year, check the Hull Identification number on the upper right corner of the transom. The last 2 digits indicate the year of manufacture. Boats (US) made after 1972 (I believe that's the year) have this number. Bertrams are known for a great ride.

I wish i could, there is no hull number on the transom. The boat must have been imported from the US at some stage. To my knowledge the carribean bertrams were made in Australia i think, someone correct me if i am wrong.

Being a follower of Bertrams in the early days....I'm with Beefer., I'm not familiar with an 18. Could it possibily be a 20footer? You appear to be the only one to have one. A great boat....and you may have one of a kind.

That one on boat sales looks like a bertram carrabean.Mine is the real deal.Exactly the same hull as the Bertram 20 only 5.48 meters long.It even has the chromed brass Bertram 18 logo down the stern sides.

Re: Bertram 18

I have what I think is a Bertram 18 or 20. The receipt I have from the owner says Bertram 20, his receipt from the dealer says Bertram 18.

I have had it since about 1989 and it has twin Mercruiser 260's with shaft drives.

Re Bertram 18,
Just came across this thread while searching for a Bertram 18. I owned one back in 80's in Albany West Australia. Was a fantastic sea boat with a 165HP mercruiser stern drive. I sold it after owning for 10 years and have often wondered what happened to it and often do online searches. Best boat I've ever owned.
