I have a 2005 4 stroke 60hp bigfoot. When reinstalling I had trouble getting the steering arm to attach. I used too much force pounding the arm into the metal and I think I bent it in such a way that I can't get the cable through the tilt tube. Any suggestions? I'm willing to buy a new steering cable so cutting is not a problem. I just need to get this old cable out . See picture. Thank you!

Keep trying

Worst case, buy a new tilt tube

The tilt still works. I just can't steer. I was wondering if I cut the thick side off if I could pull the rest of it through. Would that work possibly? Thank you

I bent the cable metal not the tube. I need to get it out to put a new cable on
Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Most times, the motor has to be lifted to remove, or install the steering cable, to clear the splash well,.....
Beating on it, is never an option,.....

Is there anyway to replace this part only? What is the metal part of a steering cable called?
