Re: Bent Prop shaft

Welcome to the forums,

Is it a 2 or 4 strokes engine ? If 2 strokes, could be a rebadged 50 Tohatsu 3 cylinder engine ? Chech pic. If so, get a T service manual and go from there...

Happy Boating

Re: Bent Prop shaft

If you never did it before you may be better off having it done. There are clearances that have to be maintained for satisfactory operation and take precision measuring instruments. You could swag it but if you goof, you have to dismantle the whole shebang and guess again. Couple of rounds of that and paying a professional would seem like a "geez, why didn't I think of this before".

Good luck,
Mark

Re: Bent Prop shaft

If yours is a 2 stroke is not a Tohatsu motor as Merc only uses the Tohatsu 4 strokes. If its the Merc brand this is a vewry simple fix...
1) shift into foward
2) remove prop and drain oil leaving drains open
3) remove the 2 bolts that hold carrier in place
4) take 2 large blade screwdrivers and pry under tab to pop carrier loose
5) remove prop shaft and take to machine shop and have straightened (dont loose pin in nose of shaft) run out specs is .004-.006
