How big is your boat??

Most of the Tri Toons I see have 150hp to 250s
a buddy has a 24ft poontune with 90hp that tops out at 22mph.

I am looking at a 90 hp on a 22' Bennington Tritoon. Might not be enough to get out of the water you're saying then.

You would probably appreciate the reserve power a 150 hp V6 will give you in the long run. It's doable w/ a 90 hp, but with a skiier behind you, it will feel like your pushing the engine all the time.

If a skier can get up with a 90, it'll be a very boring experience.

Yup, there will be a plaque by the console that states what the max power for that boat is, can't go over that but most are 150 which would be more than enough for what you want to do.

The kind of fun that kids won't get bored with (tubes, towables, knee boards, ski's) requires an engine size at, or near, the peak HP allowed on your size boat. Or as EGlideRider says, it will be a very boring experience. You will see the boredom set in quickly with the youngsters with a mid-level HP engine. For 22', a 150HP sounds like the ticket, especially considering you will likely be hauling family and/or guests while playing on the water.

Well, I got the 90 hp and very pleased with the gas consumption but....with wife and kid no problem but today we had 6 adults and I am sure the 150 would have had me on the water instead of in the water pushing it. Next one maybe I should get the 150 and a trolling motor for puttering around slowly.
