I am in the process of putting my bravo 2 outdrive back together... Stupid me forgot to mark the shift cable of where the old bellows was clamped. What is the rough distance back from the end of the cable that the bellows is.... I just want to get it close while putting everything back together

That shift cable bellows appears to be broken away from the rest of the bellows and if so it will leak a lot of water into the bilge.

Distances isn't too much of an issue as long as the rubber is in good shape and the end towards the bell housing is clamped down properly which is the ring we see in the photo to the left...And of course the other end towards the boat is clamped down too.

Item number 24, https://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/30972/1943/160

yes that is the old one... I have the new bellows/cable floating right now just wondering how far i should pull the cable through that tiny ass hole and how much cable to leave while installing the rest of the outdrive.... I went ahead and changed all the bellows while I was in there... attached is showing new bellows

Run the cable up towards the engine like seen maybe, then do a pretend pre-connection so the cable is in the area it needs to go.

push it all the way into the bellow, install housing, then slide
cable thru the housing and tighten the nut, then install the clamp or Ty-Wrap
thank you
