hi all this is our first boat project and i wanted to share some pics with use all it was alot of work but i think it was worth it the boat is a 1984 chrysler runabout with a 1977 merc 850 on it it was pretty rough when we brought it home but after weeks of sanding and prep work i think it turned out allright cant wait to do it again :D we rebuilt the entire trailer the axle was bent so we replaced that along with new wiring and paint i must say i like my mercs that motor moves the boat along real well :) also really like the gas  boat pics

The boat looks nice, did you spray it or roll and tip?

Re: before and after pics

roll and tip is 2 peeps 1 using a small roller and 2nd person follows very carefully with a brush or foam pad and takes out the lines from the roller the trick is to use very little paint and spread it out very thin and the person smoothing out must be very gentle on the foam pad you just very lightly pass over thepaint turns out real nice you can find out how to at www.interlux.com

that is a unique boat, it looks like something adidas should have for one of its running shoes, sleek, fast, different ... and must go go go with that big ol Merc on the back

eh ... yeah, gas prices suck, but I watch people chuck money away in casinos, totally miserable

can you hold back a grin when that boat surges beneath you and the spray starts flying?

I doubt it!

lol well said castaway

bco the gel coat was very easy to do actully it takes 2 people and a whole weekend just to paint it i put 3 coats to get a good flawless coat on it wherever you can buy interlux paint they will have a how-to book there it helps you can also read it on there website just remember all the real work is in the preperation sand sand sand get all your little chips filled and really sand out the stress cracks have fun doing it (mmmmmmm beer) you will see how easy it really is i cant wait to sell this one and do it again to a cabin cruiser

Re: before and after pics

well i think sanding is the key u want to roll the paint out very thin any knicks or scrapes in the finish now would have to be filled and sanded interlux makes a puddy that is very nice to work with use it to fill any damaged areas you would see every spot that you didnt fix after you paint remember ALL the work is in the preperation of the boat also very important is to wash the boat down with a good fiberglass cleaner interlux also makes this smells real bad use in well ventilated area
