I have been lurking here for a while now and just wanted to throw out a big?Thank? to everyone here. You have inspired and educated me as I restored my old Sea Star. Any time that I had a problem or a question I could count on finding the answer here. Thanks again to all of you.

I must say that I am one happy camper...er boater! :D My Boat Album Here are some more photos. I didn't take any "in process" photos :( I wish that I had now.
There was a nasty dent in the starboard bow right at the rub rail, pushed in about 3-4 inches, that I had to cut out and fiberglass in. But I lucked out with the floor and transom both being solid.
The color is Interlux Brightside Polyurethane Fire Red. I applied it using a roller and brush(roll & tip)

bekosh,

You should be proud! That is one sharp looking boat. Classics never go out of style. How does it ride?

I am! :D I have always loved the look of the classic tri-hulls. For a 15' Tri-hull she rides pretty nice. At least in calm water. The 2-4' waves we had in Milwaukee harbor on Sat started to feel a little rough after a while. ;)

FWIW I was impressed with it.(I have never painted a boat before so I have nothing to compare.) It smoothed out very quickly after rolling it on, even before "tipping" it with a brush. It took 2 coats to cover over grey primer.
The only problem I had was that the paint seemed to eat the foam rollers I started with so I switched to Mohair rollers and had no more problems.
It wasn't the cheapest paint, $32 a quart, but it dried to a hard glossy finish that I think should last.

That looks great! Thinking about using my dad's sprayer, but thinking rolling would be easier. How many quarts did it need?

She's 15' long x 5'9" beam. I used 2 quarts of primer & 2 1/2 quarts of Red.

Re: Before & After

Thanks! 2 quarts doesn't seem bad. Am looking at the same paint for my boat, only 14' (Red on top, white on bottom) and just hoping it wasn't going to cost me a fortune.
