200 HORSE BLACK MAX not sure of the year serial #'s on it are 6566118 it has brown pin stripping on the motor cover if that helps. When i turn the key it goes beep beep then when i start it it goes beep....beep wright away and fast not (cont) just fast and will stay that way. With it still sounding and running this is all of 2 or 3 minutes of running it may stop for a second then start sounding again. But it will sound again and still in the 2or 3 minutes of stating and running I can put my hand on the heads and there warm or not blister hot. I have a good water stream and it gets warm also and I know it will. Please can someone help me with this problem? This all started last year and now it Aug and i've had no boating this year because of it .

Absolutly, you probably need to purge the air from the tank under the cowl, it must be absolutly full. You can do it in the driveway with muffs, or on the water. Open the cowling, losten the cap on the tank, start the engine and wait untill oil starts coming out around the cap then tighten. Have plenty of rags handy. This should solve the problem. When you fill the main oil tank, only fill to the fill mark, there must be an air space for preasure to build up.

Oh, and by the way, why were you running the engine after hearing the alarm? Alarms mean SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN NOW!!!

It should be added that if oil does not overflow out of the remote resivoir you more than likely have a problem with your oil pump. Quick solution is to get some oil mixed with the gas to a 50:1 ratio then diagnose your oil feed problem.

The oil pump is actually after the under cowl tank. The under cowl tank is filled by preasure that biulds up in the main oil tank.

Re: beep beep help

Lube is correct.

As long as the oil tank on the boat is being pressurized that is what fills the tank on the outboard. Whether or not that tank fills up, has nothing to do with the oil pump performance.. The gears on the oil pump should be inspected for the presence of plastic shavings that would be an indication of the drive gear in the crank worn or damaged. The pump itself is very durable, but that darn plastic drive gear in the crank case is another issue and usually the cause of a oiling failure, if there is one.
