I actually had an idiot pack the outside of my bearing buddies before Those caps don't look like they were reinstalled real well, but I have never used that type . . . I use the hand gauge too, it can also indicate if there is a brake dragging or one that is not doing its fair share.<br /><br />How did you deal with Saturday? Sunday and Monday were awesome though, hope you got some of that.

Thanks for the concern sloopy! I finally made it back yesterday!!! The bearings all froze on the way home and then my car overheated and caught fire! I unhooked the trailer before the boat burt and I have spent this whole time pushing the boat back to Utah in the desert...<br /><br />Sorry for ditching you on the reply. I cleaned up the wheels, rattled them a little like you suggested and had no problems getting home. I did notice that one of the hubs was needing a good amount of grease the next time I checked it. Thanks for the help and again sorry for the delayed thanks.

Just a thought, I installed the type of hubs that use gear lube instead of grease and have clear covers in place of the dust covers so you can see that you have lube in the bearings. As an ex mechanic I'm really anal about my trailer bearings and those hubs have made road trips much less stressful. They aren't cheap but they provide a lot of peace of mind!
