Do you slice up the clam - we were using some rather large clams the size of my fist...<br /><br />or do you put the entire thing on there?<br /><br />Thanks
You can half them. Thread the hook through. Wrap a rubber band around them a few times to help them stay on. Use circle hooks, 7/0, 8/0 and a hi-lo rig. We usually just deadstick.
I've found that you do not need clams that are any bigger than the size of your hook, cut them in pieces. I've done my fair share of surf fishing and agree with Bubbles on the circle hooks 7/0 and 8/0, i've even dropped to 6/0.
