I am looking for opinions and also anyone who may have installed the Baystar system on a 150 hp engine on a 18' Bass Boat as to what the outcome was.

I have a 1999 Triton Tr18 WIT A 150 Johnson Fast Strike, Would this system work for my application or should I stay away from it?

HP rating it seems as though i would be OK but the MPH may be pushing it. I have a friend who has the Seastar system on the same identical boat however he has put a Baystar on a similar application and said that if he had it to do over again he would haveinstalledthe Baystar.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I believe the Baystar system is only rated to 130 HP. Above 130 HP, the Seastar is recommended. I have used both and been very pleased. I did not exceed the recomended HP though.

Go to teleflex's website and you can find out the ratings for the Baystar steering. Heresay can get you into trouble. Baystar is rated for max of 150hp. and they recomend that you not use it on bass boats or high performance boats. http://www.teleflexmarine.com/produ...-steering-systems/baystar-compact-steering-2/
