I have a 1990 bayliner capri 1850 with a 3.0 mercruiser. I tried taking my boat out but had issues with lowering the trim. When I pressed the down button the trim motor would only click once but not engage and lower the trim. After pressing the trim down and up buttons a few times the motor kicked on and lowered the trim. But after releasing the button it would not work again and the motor would only click when the button was pressed. I then realized that when I press the trim up button the motor does not click like when I press trim down or tilt up/down. I continued to fiddle with the trim button and the trim down finally worked again. I now have my trim almost all the way down but I cannot get it up. The only button I got to work was the trim down. All the other buttons just made the motor click and the trim up doesnt do anything when pressed. Any ideas what might be the problem? Could it just be a short since the trim down works part time?
