hi i'm not new to boating but new to boat owning i have a question i bought a 1985 bayliner capri with a aq125b volvo 4 cyl. when i bought the boat it had no passenger side seats and the driver's side seats are shot but the base of the seat's are still there i was going to buy new seats and base's from overtons what is the best way to mount them do i have to cut the old base's out and then just mount them to the floor because there is floatation foam inside the factory base's does it matter if i remove it any help would be appreciated.

I would not take any of the floatation foam out unless it is waterlogged. Install your new seat(s) on that current platform. Are you planning on putting in additional seating on the passenger side of the boat? what seating is on the stern side of the boat- usually there may be one jump seat on each side of the engine cover?
