So I bought a cabelas 12v battery probably a year ago that weighs 5lbs to run my pump. Recently it won't fully charge by verification of my multimeter. I think it's the charger since it doesn't shut off when fully charged or do a float charge. I have never charged it more than the recommended amount of time in the manual. I'm going to try it on a different charger and see if it will charge this weekend. Can anyone recommend a battery and charger they use to run the pump when not by the vehicle, and then also use it to run a fish finder? I know a charger can make all the difference in battery life. Thanks ahead for any input. Good to see a forum where inflatables are enjoyed and makes me not regret my decision of owning one.

It is made to be recharged often

Re: battery for inflatable pump/fish finder

I stopped piddling with DC pumps, too weak/ slow.

Im finally running a DC- AC converter off my cars cigarette lighter, and idle the car for the 3 minutes it takes to air up. (3minutes :) )

I keep a 50 ft ext cord that runs down closer to where im assembling my rig.

I finish off all chambers with a hand pump to touch.

The AC pumps dont mess around man, they air them up and i mean quick.

How do you connect everything to it, just by the alligator clips?

There is a cigarette socket on the unit and I plug the Gpa/fish finder and VHF radio into the socket.
The air pump I use the alligator clips

Search Ebay for 12V SLA. Some of the sealed lead acid batteries are actually listed for use in fish finders. I just paid $22 for a replacement Peg Perego battery. If I had got the name brand battery it would've been $65.

I'm not sure on the amperage- I would have to look. (Buried in trunk from yesterday's thrash session... It just an AC Intex pump) the 50 ft cord it just a typical 50 fter, it not heavy guage.
