Battery connection

Rookie question. Where on the out board do I mount the positive and negative wires from the battery. I am assuming the positive goes to the starter motor but not sure on the negative

I have a 2008 etec 175 and am trying to figure out how to connect the positive and negative cables to the engine?

Tell the whole story.-----Did you just buy this motor ?----Make sure you get this right.----Mistakes might be expensive.

The positive cable goes thru an ignition switch maybe a battery switch and other stuff before it hits the starter. We need more details on what you're doing.

The positive goes from the battery to the solenoid, possibly through a battery switch.
