Re: Battery Boost Pack

Why would you Want to,..??..??......

I don't think that I've ever boosted a Boat,.......
I find it Easier to just Pull the battery,+ Install another......

As far as the Boost Pack itself,.......
I see No Reason for it to be Unsafe,........ Stored Properly of course.......

Btw,........
No,..... I still haven't found that little Box I've been looking for..........
Maybe by Next season....................... :D ;)

Re: Battery Boost Pack

The reason I asked is I had a problem 12 miles out at C can on lake Erie.
My batteries took a poop!
I was having a problem with low voltage earlier and thought I found the problem.
I bought these batteries last fall from my local marina (Got to support them)
after charging them back up I found one only read 8.7 volts. Dead cell.
There is my real problem.
The reason I asked about the booster is this. I called rescue marine, they came out and handed me a boost pack, worked great, fired right off. I handed it back
then he handed me a bill for $400.00. I think I'll keep a unit on board just in case
I or someone else needs help. Yes I am getting tow insurance. My boat insurance covered most of this one. Thank God! Just in case, I am not bitching
about the price I am glad they came out. Just a lesson I learned.

Re: Battery Boost Pack

I keep a booster on the boat all season. I takei t home a few times to recharge it. They are heavy so should be secured. Mine is over three years old and still does the job on a few cars every winter. It has an on/off switch so sparks when connecting the cables is not a worry.

Re: Battery Boost Pack

My batteries died (bad cell in 1st & drained 2nd batt.) while we were anchored. Fortunately a friend that was tied up to us had a jump pack. I now consider it standard equipment.

Re: Battery Boost Pack

I'm like njlarry...I have one that stays in the boat all summer and in my truck the rest of the year. I've never had to use it in the boat, but I intend to keep carrying it nonetheless. It and my "boat" toolbox sit out of sight, in the rear corner, on the opposite side of the battery. Now the toolbox....I have used it...many times.

I keep one on board also. I have a Delco that has a high volume inflator for the water toys, a removable light, 12v outlet to power a cell phone, etc and a tire inflator. The little bit of extra weight is worth the piece of mind in my book!
